The World Trademark Review highlights Gleissner’s defeat against our client Jaxid GmbH
The popular website and magazine The World Trademark Review once again recognises Michael Gleissner’s defeat in Latvian court proceedings against our client Jaxid GmbH. As mentioned in our previous articles, Michael Gleissner is a famous trademark pirate (trademark troll) and a multi-millionaire, who is involved in numerous trademark disputes around the world.
The World Trademark Review in their article outlines our previous article (read here: https://petpat.lv/en_lv/news/latvian-court-admits-total-invalidation-of-grigorius-holdings-trademark-jaxid-based-on-bad-faith-applicant-related-to-trademark-troll-michael-gleissner/), which reported that the German company Jaxid GmbH requested the mark ‘JAXID’, applied by Grigorius Holdings, to be fully invalidated. Fortunately, the court admitted that there was no evidence of use of this mark and that Grigorious Holdings has any commercial intentions at all.
The World Trademark Review also emphasises the court’s finding that:
“The court by taking into account observations in life and laws of logic, concluded that the Defendant’s deliberate actions of registering trademarks in Latvia, which are identical to several EUTMs, are not accidental, but malicious actions with the aim to harm interests of third parties.”
Lastly, The World Trademark Review affirms Gleissner’s impact on the Latvian trademark environment by stating the following:
“The decision is another blow for Gleissner’s mass filing activity in Latvia. As we reported back in January, the trademark community in Latvia has been “rocked by the controversial portfolio-building exercise” of Gleissner – in 2018, entities that he owns (primarily ‘Grigorius Holdings’ and ‘Fashion One Television’) were responsible for a staggering 39.9% of all trademark applications filed in Latvia that year.”
